The wold’s first ever Graphene sports shoes
Discovered in 2004 by two researchers, Professor Andre Geim and Professor Kostya Novoselov, at The University of Manchester, Graphene is now the most fascinating material since the invention of plastics. It has remarkable consumer, medical, engineering, military, desalination, and electronic applications that will change the world as we know it.
Graphene is a two-dimensional form of carbon, with a hexagonal structure that is just one atom thick. It is stronger than steel, harder than a diamond, is amazingly superconductive, extremely light weight, and very flexible. This disruptive technology has the potential to replace existing technologies, improve existing materials, and transform our daily lives.
The issue with Graphene is that its not easy to mass produce in large volume. Therefore, there is a lot of hype about the potential application of Graphene but not a lot of end product being sold and marketed.
I was both surprised and excited when I learned about a company that is applying Graphene to shoe technology. The company’s name is inov-8 (a wordplay on innovate) and they developed the first-ever sports footwear line of athletic shoes utilizing Graphene that delivers the world’s toughest grip.
What is more impressive is how I discovered inov-8 and learned the story about their ground breaking shoe technology. I was searching on YouTube for a review on trail running shoes that can withstand the harshest conditions. I needed a running shoe that is both comfortable and extremely durable. What I found was a beautifully mastered YouTube channel that was created by inov-8. The YouTube channel included many online videos that told the brand’s story and explained all the positive features for each type of shoe that they developed. Their online video strategy was integrated with their website and used video integration to enhanced their e-commerce store model. Any visitor can land on one of inov-8’s online videos and then be funneled into their e-commerce store as a potential buyer. I found that they were using Graphene as a strong selling point and just like any e-commerce website their marketing efforts are following some of the best practices to enhance their online presence.
There are four components that makes the perfect recipe to generate online sales.
- Website – A website should always be fresh and up to date. This is a picture of your business and a visitor’s first impression of who you are.
- SEO – On site Search Engine Optimization should be applied to a website design so that Google and other search engines can rank your website on the search engine result pages based on industry related keywords.
- Social Media – A strong Social Media presence is a required strategy that includes visuals such as online flyers, videos, and display ads that should be posted and shared regularly to increase a brand’s online reach.
- Pay Per Click – A keyword campaign is a good method to boost traffic and visitors to a website. This will help create a sales funnel for specific industry related keywords that convert into buying customers.
